The Small Works exhibit will showcase a diverse array of miniature masterpieces from local and regional artists, celebrating creativity and craftsmanship in a compact format. Each piece, no larger than 12 inches in any dimension, challenges artists to distill their vision into a compact format, resulting in a diverse and compelling display. The exhibit will offer an intimate viewing experience, encouraging close inspection and appreciation of the intricate details and unique styles that make each work of art a standout.

Small Works 2026 is a juried art exhibit organized by the Georgetown Art Center. Small Works 2026 will be held at the Georgetown Art Center in the historic district of Georgetown from November 20, 2026, through January 3, 2027.

Timeline: Small Works 2026 call for entries opens July 15, 2026 and closes at midnight September 15, 2026. Artists will receive notification of acceptance in early October.

Marketing Efforts: The Small Works exhibit will be featured on the Georgetown Art Center website and promoted in the Arts and Culture monthly newsletter and social media channels for the Georgetown Art Center, Georgetown Arts and Culture, and Visit Georgetown; as well as through a press release to local media and Austin-area media outlets. The Small Works exhibit will also have the opportunity to be on display at the Art Center while the facility is a participating venue on the Main Street Program’s Coffee and Cocoa Crawl.

Jurors: Small Works entries will be scored by the Georgetown Art Center Exhibits Committee, a sub-committee of the Georgetown Arts & Culture Board.

Eligibility: Submissions are open to artists who reside and create their work in the United States. The work used for your entries must have been completed within the last 3 years. Artworks may be in any media, but must be no larger than 12x12x12” including frame or base if 3-D. All submissions are received via Submittable.com and require a $35 submission fee. Incomplete applications or applications which do not follow guidelines are subject to disqualification. Entry fees are not refundable. The Georgetown Art Center reserves the right to reject entries that contain any form of hate speech, gratuitous violence, or racism at its sole discretion.

Submitting an entry confirms that the artist is the creator and copyright owner of the work.

Deadline: All entries must be received before midnight on September 15, 2026.

Entry Requirements: Artists must own the copyright of artwork submitted. Only original art will be accepted. NO reproductions or giclees. Accepted artwork must be available for the duration of the Small Works 2026 exhibit. Artwork entered must have been created between January 1, 2023 through September 15, 2026 and must be marked for sale. Works marked Not for Sale or NFS will be disqualified. Art sold during the exhibit can be taken home the same day if requested by the buyer. Artwork without acceptable hardware for hanging or does not meet size/weight limitations will be disqualified at delivery.

In case of an emergency, this exhibition may be subject to viewing restrictions, rescheduling, or cancellation by the City of Georgetown. Entry fees are non-refundable.

Artwork Requirements: Entries may be in any media, 2-D or 3-D and may be abstract or representational. All works must be no larger than 12 inches on any side including frame. Painting, watercolor, encaustic, acrylic, oil, mixed media, textiles, collage, gouache, ink, graphite, pastel, and printmaking (prints pulled by hand.) No reproductions or giclees.

For 3-D pieces, works must be no larger than 12 inches in height, width, and depth on any side including base, and weigh no more than 4 pounds. Ceramics, sculpture, assemblage, wood, metal, mixed media may be entered. We have a limited number of shelves & pedestals available for 3-D presentation.

For photography/digital entries, artworks must be output no larger than 12 inches on any side including frame. Output must be framed/mounted with hanging hardware in a format that may be displayed on a wall or shelf. All artworks must be original. Camera-generated photographic images, computer-enhanced digital images, digital collage or montage, digital & graphic design may be entered.

Each entry must be securely labeled on the back of the art with the title, artist’s name, and phone or email address.

You may submit 1-3 artworks for a $35 entry fee. All entries must be uploaded and fee paid via Submittable.com. There is no fee to create a Submittable account.

Artists are limited to a maximum of 3 entries. Only jpg files are accepted. Images must be a minimum of 200kb and a maximum of 6Mb. Only one artwork will be exhibited from each selected artist.

Be sure to upload ALL images before clicking the submit button. When you finish uploading ALL art, click submit. You will be directed to a payment page and will not be able to return to make changes or add additional entries.

Judging: During the first round of judging, all entries will be scored online via Submittable by GAC Exhibits Committee. Artists whose entries are accepted are invited to participate in the Small Works exhibit and will receive instructions to hand-deliver or ship their work to Georgetown Art Center. Judge: Shawn Camp - Shawn Camp

Shawn Camp grew up in Coeur dʼAlene, Idaho and completed an MFA in Painting and Printmaking at Virginia Commonwealth University. He then set out exploring, art-making, and exhibiting throughout the United States and abroad as an artist and musician. He settled in Austin, Texas where he is a member of the ICOSA artist collective and Professor of Painting at Austin Community College. 

His works have been shown in the United States and internationally and are included in numerous public and private collections. He has been awarded artist residencies in the United States and Iceland and his work has been reviewed in Glasstire, The Austin American Statesman and The Austin Chronicle. His large-scale works have been commissioned for the City of Houston, Texas A&M University, Raymond James and a host of other institutions. Shawn’s paintings, videos and sound pieces exploit the effects of context and light on our perception - contrasting the ephemeral nature of awareness with the illusion of constancy.

Artists are responsible for all shipping expenses and transit insurance costs TO AND FROM the Georgetown Art Center shipping address. Prepaid return shipping labels must be included with shipped work. Works without a prepaid return shipping label will not be returned.

Shipping, packaging and artwork must be clearly marked to identify the artist, and packaging must be re-usable for the return shipping, and include re-packaging and installation instructions as necessary.

Shipped artwork must have a prepaid address label in the package for return shipment.

The City of Georgetown Water Conservation Team would like to commission artists to design and paint rain barrels.

 Application Deadline: Friday, Aug. 15

2026 PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Beginning July 15, 2026, the City of Georgetown’s Water Conservation Team will invite artist proposals for the Painted Rain Barrel Project. These rain barrels will be placed around downtown Georgetown during October, then auctioned off to community members at the Autumn Art Stroll on October 16th, with proceeds going to Water Conservation education and outreach efforts.

ELIGIBILITY: This opportunity is open to all artists and student artists.

BUDGET: Artists will receive a $250 stipend upon pickup of rain barrel.

INSTALLATION DATE: Rain barrels should be completed by the artist by Sept. 25, 2026 and can be dropped off by the artist at the Water Conservation Department anytime during the week of September 21st.

SELECTION: From the proposals submitted by the deadline, the City of Georgetown Water Conservation Team and arts committee will select 10 finalists from the total number of submissions. Artists will be notified on final selections by the Water Conservation Team during the week of August 24th, 2026. Artist contracts to be signed upon receipt of their prepped, blank barrel the week of August 31.

Call for Artist Entries: 2026-2027 Annual Georgetown Sculpture Tour

The City of Georgetown Arts and Culture Program sponsors an annually rotating Sculpture Tour in the Downtown Georgetown Cultural District and surrounding areas of the Georgetown community.

Application Deadline: August 1st, 2026

Project Description:

Beginning June 1st, 2026, The City of Georgetown’s Arts and Culture Board will invite artist entries for the 2026-2027 Annual Georgetown Sculpture Tour – a juried, year-long outdoor exhibition in Georgetown’s historic Cultural District and surrounding areas of the Georgetown community. Each artist may submit up to (3) sculptures for consideration.

Eligibility:

This opportunity is open to all professional artists over the age of 18.

Stipends:

All sculptures selected for the 2026-2027 Sculpture Tour will receive a cash prize awarded by the City of Georgetown Arts & Culture Board, which includes (1) $2,500 First Prize, (1) $2,000 Second Prize, (1) $1,500 Third Prize, and up to (12) $1000 Honorable Mention awards. Judging will occur in October 2026, and checks will be mailed in November 2026. Prizes will be announced in October at the Autumn Art Stroll Sculpture Tour Awards + Concert on October 16, 2026!  The Arts and Culture Program will receive a 25% commission on any sculpture sold during the exhibit period.

Installation date:

Installations will take place the first week of October 2026 by appointment. Delivery and pickup are the artist’s responsibility; sculptures will be installed by City of Georgetown Parks and Recreation staff working with the artist. Sculptures will be removed in October 2027 by appointment.

About the Downtown Georgetown Cultural District:

The Georgetown Arts and Culture Board maintains the Texas Commission on the Arts Cultural District designation and implements the Georgetown Arts and Culture Program. The Georgetown Arts and Culture Program enhances quality of life for residents and visitors of Georgetown by promoting community engagement, cultural participation, and cultural tourism through public art programming and arts and culture collaborations. This program will help the Board fulfill the vision of becoming a nationally recognized arts destination by 2030.

• The sculpture must be a minimum of 3 feet in height
• The sculpture must be able to withstand pedestrian traffic and touch, as well as normal outdoor weather conditions
• The sculpture design must be installation-ready and allow for piece to be bolted directly to the sculpture pad with installation “tabs” in place or weigh enough to be secure without bolts
• Artist must be able to deliver and pick up artwork within the specified timeline

Marketing Efforts:  Sculptures will be featured on the visit.georgetown.org website on the dedicated Georgetown Sculpture Tour page, as well as a section on the public art collection page. The Sculpture Tour page includes a link to an online map of the tour. Each sculpture will have an on-site title sign created with pricing and QR code link to its unique page on the website. Each sculpture on the tour will also be featured in a printed Public Art Directory and foldable map that is available for visitors and patrons wishing to take a walking tour. A press release of the award winners and honorable mention recipients will be created by the City of Georgetown.
